Overview
In late 2025, Bluechip Industrial Services was engaged by CBH Group to deliver a multidisciplinary package of works for a Rail Outloading Facility within an active rail corridor.
The project involved coordinating several disciplines within a live operational environment, requiring strict adherence to rail safety requirements and controlled access conditions.
Scope of Works
The project included:
- Site survey and set-out
- Shop detailing and fabrication
- Structural installation
- Mechanical installation
- Electrical and instrumentation
- Compressed air systems
- Civil works
- Rail track possession and coordination
Bluechip also carried out facility-wide dry and wet commissioning, ensuring all systems were fully integrated and ready for operation at handover.
The Challenge
Working within a live rail corridor introduced constraints around access, sequencing, and timing. Activities needed to align with possession windows, while maintaining compliance across all aspects of delivery.
With multiple trades operating simultaneously, success relied on clear coordination and disciplined execution across the full scope.
The Outcome
The Rail Outloading Facility was successfully delivered and commissioned, with all systems performing as intended.
The project demonstrated Bluechip’s ability to manage complex scopes within operational environments, where planning, timing, and execution had to align in order to achieve a safe and effective outcome.
Project Insight
Managing Director Brian Mangan said:
“Projects like this test how well everything connects. You’ve got multiple disciplines, tight timeframes, and a live rail environment that doesn’t slow down for you. It’s less about any one scope, and more about how well it all comes together without impacting what’s already operating.”
